With gunfire echoing in background, Rahm Emanuel promises illegals they’ll always have a safe space in Chicago

The mayors of several cities have vowed to defy federal law and remain “sanctuary cities”:

Mayor Rahm Emanuel tried to sell people in the country illegally on the Windy City, saying yesterday in not so many words, “If you’re gonna get shot in any sanctuary city in America, make it Chicago!”

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel promised Monday to defy President-elect Donald Trump’s deportation orders and vowed that the city will always be a so-called sanctuary city.

Chicago laws prohibit government workers and police officers from asking the locals about their immigration status, according to the Chicago Tribune. Emanuel reaffirmed that the policy will continue.

“To all those who are, after Tuesday’s election, very nervous and filled with anxiety as we’ve spoken to, you are safe in Chicago, you are secure in Chicago and you are supported in Chicago,” Emanuel said. “Chicago will always be a sanctuary city.”

Thirty-seven people were shot in Chicago over the weekend — five fatally — so Emanuel’s guarantee of safety might be one of his biggest lies.

Dem Rep. Mike Quigley just can’t believe Republicans might be mean enough to cut off the city’s federal funding:

“The president-elect said he would cut off all federal funding to sanctuary cities — an extraordinary thing to say, particularly for someone who says the federal government should stay out of the local governing of states and cities,” Quigley said.

Ignoring federal law is a “local governing” issue and none of the federal government’s business, but that only applies to progressives and sanctuary cities. Try the same argument after ignoring an EPA reg and see how fast liberals call for your arrest.

Once Trump takes office he should see to it that Rahm Emanuel is faced with his toughest dilemma yet: An “undocumented immigrant” who wants to open a Chick-fil-A within Chicago city limits.
