Here’s an open thread for Sunday while I recover from too many hot dogs at the Tigers game yesterday, not to mention the 9th inning loss. A few starters… first up: Tomorrow night’s debate.
President Obama gave Hillary Clinton some laughable advice:
President Barack Obama wants Hillary Clinton to “be yourself and explain what motivates you” when she takes the stage Monday night for her first presidential debate.
Hey Mr. President, Hillary would be happy to explain what motivates her, but she won’t release her Goldman Sachs transcripts and deleted everything else.

Mike Pence, buzzkill extraordinaire:
Indiana Gov. Mike Pence (R) said Gennifer Flowers, a woman with whom former President Bill Clinton had an extramarital affair, won’t be attending the presidential debate on Monday night.
She “will not be attending the debate tomorrow night,” the GOP vice presidential nominee said on “Fox News Sunday.”
[…]
Pence said Trump’s tweet about bringing Flowers to the debate was “really mocking the fact that Hillary Clinton was trying to distract attention away from this moment in our national life where the American people are going to see a strong contrast between” both candidates.
It might mess with Hillary’s head even more if Trump’s people set up an empty chair labeled “reserved for Juanita Broaddrick” and just left it that way through the entire evening.

Ted Cruz is backing Donald Trump now. It’s just a little awkward.

On Friday night, a man who is now in custody opened fire in a shopping mall north of Seattle, killing five people. This scenario sounds familiar, but authorities and the media approached it with an abundance of caution.
Originally police said the man in the still pictures that were released was a “Hispanic male,” and the media quickly reported that “fact.” Imagine my surprise to discover that people of Turkish descent fall under the “Hispanic” umbrella:
The lone suspect in the fatal shooting of five people in a Washington state mall has been charged with five counts of first degree murder, according to Skagit County jail records.
Arcan Cetin, 20, was taken into custody Saturday night after a nearly 24-hour manhunt, authorities said.
State authorities said it’s too early to rule out terrorism or any other motive because their investigation is in its preliminary stages. Before the suspect’s arrest, an official with the FBI had told reporters there was “no evidence at this time” of a link to terrorism.
[…]
Cetin emigrated from Turkey and is a legal permanent resident of the United States, authorities said. It’s unclear when he moved to the US.
The media’s doing their thing:
Cetin took the three legally purchased guns from his father and went to the Macy’s at Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washinton, where his ex-girlfriend once worked, according to KING 5 News.
In other words, the guns were stolen. It wouldn’t be phrased that way for anything else. Imagine this: “The suspect took the legally purchased car from his father.” No, that would be, “The suspect stole his father’s car.” The MSM rules are different when reporting about guns for obvious reasons.
Reuters makes the uptick in attacks sound like there are more toddlers having temper tantrums:
The mall attack followed a series of violent outbursts at shopping centers across the United States, including the stabbing of nine people at a Minnesota center last weekend.
“Series of violent outbursts”? Leave it to the media to make a rise in attacks sound like a Lemony Snicket book title.

Putting the IRS in charge of health care was such a great idea:
How many of those people had policies until the “Affordable” Care Act blew them up?

Team Hillary is bringing in the big guns with just weeks to go until the election:
Kaine continued his fundraising blitz on Wednesday in California with multiple events in the Bay Area, including a luncheon featuring two long-time Republican donors. Thursday, he’s in Houston for an event that features singer Michael Bolton.
This is Bolton’s second fundraiser for Clinton; he appeared at an event during the Democratic primaries.
Clinton will do anything to win the support of Bob Slydell:
Bolton’s perhaps best known for his remake of “When a Man Loves a Woman,” which means Team Hillary’s just begging to be slammed by progressives for promoting heteronormativity.

Suffice to say, Mike Ditka’s not a fan of Colin Kaepernick. Speaking of that, the NFL is wondering why ratings are down so far this year. Gee, what could it be!?
Have a good Sunday all!
